The Louisiana State Board of Private Investigator Examiners is closed to the public until this crisis has passed. This is a very fluid situation and we will do everything within our power to work with our PI’s to answer questions, renew their licenses and get applications processed in a timely manner. All applications and renewals must be submitted to our office by mail. If you are unable to contact someone in person, please call 225-763-3556 and leave a message. Continuing Education

Effective January 1st, 2017 ALL private investigators licensed with the State of Louisiana SHALL be required to complete and PASS an on-line investigative educational instruction course designed and approved by the LSBPIE EVERY TWO YEARS in order to qualify for a license renewal. The approved on-line investigative educational course will be available FREE of charge through the LSBPIE website.

Information Request Changes

Effective Immediately: All requests for information/records from the LSBPIE shall be submitted by Fax (225) 763-3536, by US Mail, or "In Person". The request must be signed by the person requesting the information/record and ID may be required. The LSBPIE is responsible for the custody of these records and wants to ensure the requests are received in a responsible manner. The LSBPIE staff appreciates your cooperation with this policy.

Application Acceptance Times

The Board Office will only accept applications Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 10:30am and 12:30pm to 2:00pm

Training Manuals

The new training manuals are now available. They can be purchased in the office for $30 or by mail for $40.
